Why bleach your hair before colouring?
Tips & Tricks
Bleaching your hair before applying semi-permanent colour is an important step to ensure vibrant, long-lasting results. Ghosted bleach lifts the hair cuticle, allowing the mixture to reach the cortex and lighten natural pigments. This creates a blank canvas for Attitude colours to fully saturate the strands and appear true to the bottle. Without bleaching, dye often sits on the surface and fades quickly. Here's a closer look as to why!
1. Our hair is mostly made of keratin, a protein, and consists of 3 basic layers: the cuticle, cortex and medulla.

2. Using Ghosted bleach powder and peroxide activator to your hair causes the outer cuticle layers to lift and open up. This allows the bleach mixture to pass under the cuticle and into the cortex.
The bleach mixture oxidizes the melanin in the cortex, causing it to lose its colour. The lighter your hair becomes, the more visible Attitude Hair Colour will be.

3. The bleaching process is done! Now that the cuticle layers have opened up, the Attitude colours can slip right under and enter the cortex. There, it gives the lightened layer a bright new colour. The conditioner inside our dye will close the cuticle layer, locking your new hair colour in. This makes it last longer.

Without bleaching, the Attitude colour will only stick to the cuticle like a coat of paint, and will generally only last for 1-2 washes, even if your hair was blonde. This is why we always recommend bleaching before dyeing with Attitude!

Conclusion
For bright and lasting colour with Attitude Hair Dye, bleaching with Ghosted first is essential. It helps the dye embed in the hair for deeper, more vibrant results. With proper after-care, your hair will stay strong and shiny while keeping your new colour looking bold.
