Bleaching your roots is an essential step for our dark-haired beauties who want to keep their colour looking fresh. Laura shows us her process in how she maintains her look using the 20 Vol Ghosted bleach kit and her best tips!
My Step By Step:
1. I left my hair and didn't wash it prior to bleaching for ~ 2 weeks (it takes a little longer for me). This ensures that my hair's natural oils will protect my scalp from too much damage.
2. Combing through my hair and putting some conditioner in my mids/ends for sectioning the hair off really good & to protect it a bit from bleach. I usually make 4 to 6 sections depending on my mood. The more sections you make, the more accurate the application will be because it ensures you haven't missed a spot.
3. After mixing the Ghosted bleach powder and activator, I use an application brush and try to work as fast as possible and do not overlap, so the bleach doesn't stay on for too long. I usually start with the two front parts and work my way to the back of my head.
4. I crosscheck everything to try to minimize the case of leaving out a spot. For bleaching & dyeing I use two mirrors: one in front and a bigger one behind me so I can see everything.
5. I leave the bleach on at max 45 minutes on the front parts so the back has about ~20minutes left. I also like to reapply some more/leftover bleach and don't care for any overlap in the last 10 to 15 minutes.
My Review:
I really liked the bleach a lot! It lifted my hair perfectly & really even and I did not have any problems with anything, it went down really smooth! The brush was also really great for sectioning off my hair.
The only downside is: since I have really thick and much hair & an undercut in the back (which I do not bleach and just shave), the bleach ran out really fast. I used up any little rest I had left in my bowl. So I think that for some people one box isn't enough (or for me if I wouldn't have my undercut :D)

When in doubt, always use a lower volume to prevent damage to your hair. Read the included instructions before bleaching, and always do a strand test to know how long to leave it in. Always do your roots last, because they develop faster.
