1. Our hair is mostly made of keratin, a protein, and consists of 3 basic layers: the cuticle, cortex and medulla.


2. Using Ghosted bleach powder and peroxide activator to your hair causes the outer cuticle layers to lift and open up. This allows the bleach mixture to pass under the cuticle and into the cortex.
The bleach mixture oxidizes the melanin in the cortex, causing it to lose its colour. The lighter your hair becomes, the more visible Attitude Hair Colour will be.


3. The bleaching process is done! Now that the cuticle layers have opened up, the Attitude colours can slip right under and enter the cortex. There, it gives the lightened layer a bright new colour. The conditioner inside our dye will close the cuticle layer, locking your new hair colour in. This makes it last longer.

Without bleaching, the Attitude colour will only stick to the cuticle like a coat of paint, and will generally only last for 1-2 washes, even if your hair was blonde. This is why we always recommend bleaching before dyeing with Attitude!
